Communicate a Clear Vision to Create a Clear Reason to Give

Quite often, when thinking about raising funds, we think about the amount we have to raise - and get petrified. Or, we think about the barriers we're facing in the midst of the process - and get overwhelmed. It's important to see way beyond those dynamics of fears and what-ifs to something much bigger and more powerful. Instead, think about why people want to give, and why they could want to invest in your ministry.

A powerful question to ask yourself: "What would vision-based giving look like for your ministry?"

To the degree you share a strong and compelling vision will be the degree that people come on board to sustain your vision financially.

So, begin to think what vision-based giving could look like and work through these questions:

  • How strong is your vision?

  • How clearly are you communicating that vision?

  • What would vision based giving look like specifically for the people in your network?

  • Would they give (to anyone) because they are burdened about the need?

  • Would they give because they want to start a new work?

  • Would they give because they want to expand the ministry that already exists?

These are questions you need to ask yourself before you to sit down and share about your ministry and the funds needed to sustain your vision. When you do this foundational work, you'll begin to find it's true that the degree you share a strong and compelling vision, will be the degree that people come on board.
